World war game 3
As China rises as a global power, challenging the United States’ dominance, the world is becoming increasingly multipolar. This shift leads to heightened competition and increases the risk of conflict as nations jostle for influence and control over strategic regions.
Historical Disruptions During WWIIWorld War II saw significant interruptions in global trade due to naval blockades and the redirection of resources to the war effort. These disruptions caused shortages and required nations to adapt their industrial output.
The United States has been a steadfast ally of Israel, providing military and diplomatic support. Under President Donald Trump’s administration, the U.S. response to escalating global tensions could shift significantly. Trump’s foreign policy might emphasize a more nationalistic, ‘America First’ approach, potentially affecting the country’s commitments to allies and its role in ongoing conflicts like those in Ukraine, Taiwan, and the Middle East. Such policy shifts could add complexity to alliances and influence the broader geopolitical landscapeThe Russia-Ukraine War and NATO Expansion
Like the remora, which is relatively powerless without the shark, North Korea’s autonomy is limited by its reliance on China. Korea depends heavily on China for economic support, trade, and diplomatic backing. North Korea’s unpredictable behavior and nuclear capabilities make it a potential addition to the wildcard. While not necessarily a central player, North Korea’s actions could destabilize the region, particularly if it aligns with China.
Magnitude of DestructionWorld War II, a conflict that reshaped the world, incurred an economic cost of approximately $4 trillion in today’s terms. The devastation was vast, leaving cities in ruins and industries decimated. However, if World War III were to occur, the scale of destruction would likely be far greater, driven by modern military advancements like nuclear war, cyberattacks, and biological agents. The impact wouldn’t just be physical; the interconnected global economy, reliant on complex supply chains, would face crippling disruptions across key sectors such as energy, technology, and finance.

This is the Dodgers’ second title in five years — and their first in a full season since 1988. They will get even better as a coterie of pitchers return. The Yankees, meanwhile, will face the questions not only about how they blew the lead in Game 5 but whether Juan Soto — their best player all postseason — will return, as a jackpot awaits in free agency. — Jeff Passan
The Dodgers held a parade from Los Angeles City Hall to L.A. Central Public Library along Grand Avenue followed by a celebration at Dodger Stadium on November 1, 2024, the birthday of former Dodgers star pitcher Fernando Valenzuela. Despite honoring the Dodgers as the 2024 World Series champions, fan tributes to Valenzuela were also considered to be a highlight of the November 1 celebrations.
For the third year, the 12-team postseason kicked off with an action-packed wild-card round, featuring eight teams battling for four spots to advance to the eight-team division series. The Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves were all swept by their wild-card opponents, sending the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres on to the division series. In this year’s only Game 3, Pete Alonso and the New York Mets stunned the Milwaukee Brewers with a ninth-inning go-ahead homer to move on.
For the 25th consecutive year, the World Series was televised in the United States by Fox. Play-by-play announcer Joe Davis (who was the Dodgers’ lead television announcer on Spectrum SportsNet LA during the regular season) called the games, along with Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz as color analyst and Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci as field reporters. Kevin Burkhardt hosted the pregame and postgame shows, joined by analysts Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and David Ortiz. Fox Deportes aired the Spanish-language telecasts, with play-by-play announcer Adrian Garcia Marquez, analyst Edgar Gonzalez, and reporters Carlos Alvarez and Jaime Motta.
